About Us

The Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) leads the NSW public sector to deliver on the Government's commitments and priorities. The Government Communications team sits within the Strategic Communications and Events Branch of DPC. Strategic Communications works collaboratively with agencies to evaluate and establish communications protocols and policies and support delivery of effective communications beyond just advertising, whilst forging close partnerships with agencies and industry to evaluate and implement initiatives to enhance government communications.

Services that Strategic Communications Branch provides to NSW Government agencies are:

  1. Shares government and industry intelligence and best practice examples.
  2. Develop and manage policy directly related to communications.
  3. Evaluates and leads communication reforms.
  4. Manages the Peer Review process
  5. Provides Secretariat support to the Cabinet Standing Sub-Committee on Communication and Government Advertising (the Committee).
  6. Manages supplier performance management through the Media Agency Services (MAS) contracts and the advertising and digital communications suppliers’ panel on behalf of NSW Government agencies.

Government Communications Teams

Government Communications 

Government communications are the experts that can help you meet the NSW Government advertising requirements. The team manages the Peer Review Process that is a requirement under the NSW Government Advertising Act and delivers whole of government priority campaigns, as required.

Communications Contracts and Supplier Performance

The Communication Contracts and Supplier Performance team manages contracts for the supply of government media and advertising services including rate negotiations, contract efficiency and effectiveness to address the needs of government agencies. The team analyses, evaluates, monitors, benchmarks and reports on whole-of-government communications suppliers’ performance. They also host educational forums for government agencies that promote best practise.

Communications Policy

The Communications Policy team help design whole-of -government policy for government advertising and communication, and support the Secretariat function of the Cabinet Standing Sub-Committee on Communication and Government Advertising.
